Dear Principals,
After teaching in London for 34 years, directing kids in countless shows and taking them to see as many more, I know how much fun those activities can be for the kids and the value of the kinds of learning that can take place. I also think it is great for kids to watch their peers in performance, creating an “I can do that!” wave length, and giving them healthy goals for the future. Anyway, I've followed my retirement from TVDSB by teaching fledgling Drama teachers at the Faculty of Education and working at Original Kids Theatre (still espousing the above values and activities!). I just want you to know that we do one performance of each of our productions (starting at noon or 12:30 pm unless an earlier is requested due to buses etc. or show is of shorter length) for school groups in our Spriet Family Theatre in Covent Garden Market . We charge $5 each to cover the royalties and supply a complimentary supervisor seat for each 15 kids. If you let us know that any kids have trouble paying, we are pleased to include them as our special guests. If your teachers notify us at time of booking, we can arrange for cast members and directing staff to do a Q&A session with your students at the end of the show. We find that many teachers combine this theatre-going event with a tour and project of some sort in the Market or the Library. They have found this of educational value. We also know that they use the trip for lots of other educational purposes - writing, speaking, etiquette and public behaviour, art, music and on and on. Here is our schedule of student performances. We hope you will direct your teachers to it and to our website, www.oktc.ca where they can get full descriptions of all the shows and find out about our non-profit youth theatre. To book a show for your kids or to ask any questions that occur to you, simply phone Georgina Smith at 679-0598 or email georgina@oktc.ca .
Sincerely,
Art Fidler

If you have a student who has difficulty with the cost, just let us know and we will waive the cost for that student. There are 96 seats in our theatre. Please book or get more information by calling Georgina Smith at 519-679-0598 or georgina@oktc.ca. Some teachers find the Covent Garden Market a suitable field trip and lunch spot prior to the show at the Spriet Theatre on the Mezzanine.
